Challenging Black Injustice Everywhere

Change In Our Community Starts With Us

Against the backdrop of tension, death, and economic shock brought about by COVID-19, we have now witnessed another senseless killing of a Black man. The protests that have followed against racial injustices in our country and here in New York City have been both courageous and distressing. At Oden Technologies, we all share in the shock and grief of these circumstances.

It’s our responsibility to support our community to stop the systemic racism that has ended the lives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s how we aspire to live and work. The Black community should not have to live in fear of the everyday life many of us take for granted.

Only action creates change. Right now that means being honest with ourselves that we have not done enough to promote justice and equality for everyone. While we recognize that having a diversity and an equal-opportunity employment policy is important, the solution to eradicating systemic inequality requires more action and commitment on everyone’s part. We don’t have all the answers today, but we know one important example consists of actively challenging hiring biases and further supporting the inclusivity of varying backgrounds.

We hereby pledge to make an ongoing commitment to ensure equality is not a one-time initiative, but a reflection of the values that speak to our core. We must do better to find new ways to support the Black community and the causes of equality and justice for everyone going forward.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
